Whether you’re new to the Christian faith, returning to church after being away for a while, or you’ve been a Christian for many years and simply need to reconnect with the essentials of the faith, we’re glad you visited this page. No matter where you are in your journey with God, our hope is that the following information will help you grow to trust and serve Him.
Growing in your relationship with God works best when you are doing the things that allow it to work. Some of them include reading your Bible, praying, worshipping with other believers, and serving in an area that brings attention to God and fulfillment to you. There is no special formula to follow, but the following areas will provide the best process to help you grow in your faith.
Begin with the Bible.
The best place to discover God is in the Bible. To help you begin, follow the suggested reading plan. With a commitment of two weeks and reading one chapter a day, it will take you through significant passages every Christian should know. The chapters are relatively easy to read and are some of the most quoted and referred to elsewhere in the Bible. If you miss a day, pick up where you left off. When reading, keep the following things in mind:
- Does this text reveal something I should believe about God?
- Does this text reveal something I should praise or thank God for?
- Does this text reveal something I should pray about for myself or others?
- Does this text reveal something I should confess as sin?
- Does this text reveal something I should have a new attitude about?
- Does this text reveal something I should make a decision about?
- Does this text reveal something I should do for the sake of Christ, others, or myself?

Follow up with prayer.
Among the most magnificent invitations God ever extends to us is that of prayer. Possibly no biblical truth is more wondrously perplexing than the promise that our own words matter to God. He delights in our conversation. Prayer is simply using words to express to God the feelings in your heart. The following are some practical ways to pray:
- Allow Scripture you read each day to shape your prayers. In your own words, pray the Scripture back to God.
- Listen to others pray. This can happen at church or with a prayer partner. A prayer partner is a God-sent friend that you can pray with.
- Learn to pray with others immediately as they share needs with you. This can happen at church, on the phone, etc. Praying with others is a good way to obey the command of 1 Thessalonians 5:17...Pray continually.
Worship and study with other Christians.
Worshipping in church provides encouragement and support for all believers. Along with worship, many have found that studying the Bible in a small group setting provides the opportunity to build authentic relationships and find needed encouragement to trust and serve the Lord. If you’d like to know more about our small group ministry, attend the next Discovery Point class or visit the Small Groups Page. Discovery Point classes are promoted through announcements and on the events calendar.
